Detoxing – The Toxic Impact on Health

If you’re thinking about detoxing, I hope you know that there is ZERO scientific evidence supporting detox.

Scientists often say … “there’s no such thing as detoxing”

In medical terms, it’s a nonsense.

Yes, you read that correctly. IT’S A NONSENSE.

For those of you who don’t know me, I carry over 20 years of experience in the health and fitness industry and I’m so proud to say that I’m a detox advocate, even though many scientists claim ‘detoxing’ is a hoax.

In just a few seconds, I’m going to tell you why toxins are a very real problem and 5 simple ways to detox.

Even though there aren’t any double-blind, placebo controlled studies on herbal detoxing, there are PLENTY (in fact hundreds) of papers supporting the use of cleansing herbs.

Many health problems we commonly see today are due to toxicity in the body, such as;

  • Weight Gain
  • Acne and Eczema
  • Fatigue
  • Digestive Disorders (e.g. gas/bloating/constipation)
  • Poor Concentration or Brain Fog

And there are many more symptoms which I didn’t list.

Simply put, toxins make us sick.

Concerned?

You should be.

Toxins are everywhere and an enormous amount of chemicals have been released into our environment in the last 50 years.

I have no idea how these chemicals have been approved for production, since they are literally making us sick.

Can you believe that the average newborn baby has 287 known toxins in their umbilical cord blood?

It’s pretty scary to think about the toxicity that can accumulate in the body over a person’s lifetime.

Stress, processed foods, and toxins in our environment place stress on the liver – our #1 detox organ.

So, for all those that claim the body is designed by nature to remove toxins, here’s what I have to say.

You’re right, but in today’s toxic world, it’s a highly unrealistic expectation.

The average person’s body is bombarded with hundreds of chemicals daily. It’s virtually impossible for the organs to keep up.

Many people are sick, tired, and unwell because of toxins.

Let’s Review The 5 R’s of Detoxing:

1 – REJECT LIQUID DIETS

I’m not a fan of water fasts, juice fasts, or living off shakes to cleanse. To cleanse well, the body needs nutrients.

So put down the liquids and follow a healthy cleansing diet.

2 – EAT THE ‘RIGHT’ FOODS

Low-fat, vegan, gluten-free, low-carb, low-sugar, high protein, ketogenic? Most people have no idea what to eat to cleanse their body. Here’s a link with cleanse-friendly foods to eat.

3 – REDUCE TOXIN EXPOSURE

During a detox, it’s important to reduce toxin exposure as much as possible.

Minimize (or avoid) processed foods, walk outside in nature, avoid perfume, clean your home with natural cleaners, and use natural oils instead of chemical lotions on your skin.

4 – RE-HYDRATE

Drink up!

Be sure to drink half your body weight (in pounds) of water per day (in ounces). This means if you’re 140 pounds, you’ll want to drink about 70 ounces of water per day.

If you don’t stay hydrated, toxins can re-circulate and make you feel unwell.

5 – RELAX!

Stress prevents the body from properly detoxing.

If you don’t get adequate sleep or manage stress well, your body will probably do a lousy job detoxing.

Practice deep breathing, yoga, or meditation daily and do your best to relax.

Happy Cleansing!
