10 Liver Detox Foods

Are you looking for ways to support good liver health? Interested in liver detox foods that you can enjoy daily?

If you answered yes, you’ll be happy to know that today I’m sharing my top 10 liver detox foods.

# 1 – Beets

I just love them.

They are rich in antioxidants and contain iron, folate and an important nutrient that helps protect cells, proteins, and enzymes from environmental stress.

Beets also contain pectin, which is a form of fiber that helps absorb toxins.

#2 – Kale

Kale chips, kale salad, kale in your shakes.

There are so many amazing ways to consume this superfood!

Kale is an iron-rich detoxifying dark green leafy vegetable which contains vitamin C, fiber and sulfur.

#3 – Lemons

The liver loves lemons!

They strengthen the liver and assist in cleansing the system of impurities.

# 4 – Broccoli

Not only can broccoli help fill you up on a detox, broccoli is rich in sulfur and antioxidants.

Sulfur assists with cleansing and is one of the most important minerals in the body.

#5 – Onions

Research has shown that onions lower blood glucose levels, boost the immune system, and since they contain a large amount of sulfur, they are especially helpful in liver detoxification.

# 6 – Garlic

Contains certain complex substances that get converted to allicin, when fresh garlic is crushed or chopped.

Aside from providing protection against viruses, bacteria, and other invaders, garlic helps to detoxify the body and strengthen the liver.

#7 – Cabbage

Contains almost 8 times the vitamin C found in an orange.

Simply amazing!

Cabbage is another vegetable that’s also high in sulfur. Liver detox foods like cabbage support cleansing the liver.

#8 – Spinach

I can’t leave this important leafy green out.

It’s packed with nutrients and antioxidants.

It’s also a great source of calcium and iron.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, a 180 gram serving of boiled spinach contains 6.43 mg of iron, whereas one 6 oz. ground hamburger patty, which is 170 grams contains at most 4.42 mg.

Spinach does contain a relatively high level of iron, compared to other sources, however, it is poorly absorbed unless eaten with calcium, since it’s a plant source and is non-heme, which the body does not absorb as efficiently as blood (heme) iron, found in meat.

#9 – Spirulina

This is an incredible blue-green algae that’s helpful in liver detoxification. Liver detox foods like spirulina help protect and purify the liver.

#10 – Bok Choy

Another amazing green leafy vegetable. It’s an excellent source of sulfur-containing phytonutrients, vitamin C, and fiber.

Remember that once the liver gets damaged, it impacts how you look, how you feel, and how you fight disease.

These liver detox foods in your diet can make all the difference!
